Whether you use them to make s’mores, roast them over a fire or make rice krispie treats with them, marshmallows are pillowy, sugary and delicious!

What are marshmallows?

In their basic form, marshmallows are a type if sweet that is made from sugar, water and gelatin. Those ingredients are whipped to make a squishy, airy consistency.

They are used to make many desserts, and even sometimes top a Thanksgiving classic: sweet potato casserole!

Some things that they are used to make are:

  • a filling in cakes and cookies
  • eaten by themselves (either plain or toasted)
  • stuffed inside chocolate candies
  • and many others
