Sweet & Salty Halloween Bark

Halloween Bark is the easiest of Halloween dessert ideas. No baking required and a minimal amount of hands-on time, what isn’t there to like?

white bark with candy corn and pretzels

Blood, guts and gore is not my bag. Halloween Bark, however, is! Bark is good for any holiday. I’ve never quite understood why people reserve it for Christmas.

Easy and no bake with a vast array of options for toppings, bark is perfect for using up bits and pieces of leftover candy, dried fruit and nuts.

For Halloween Bark, any bark really, I like sweet and salty. Pretzels provide the crunch and the salty flavor I am looking for. Harvest Mix candy corn is something I look forward to all year.

In just 10 minutes I have Halloween Bark! Perfect for packing Halloween goodie bags, serving at Halloween parties or munching on at home.

Ingredients

You only need a handful of simple ingredients found at your local grocery store to make this Halloween bark for spooky season.

  • White candy melts – I like white chocolate because of the contrast to other candy. However, if you’d prefer milk chocolate or even dark chocolate, be my guest!
  • Milk chocolate candy melts – I like to use these because they melt smoothly, but you could also use chocolate almond bark or semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  • Harvest Mix Candy Corn – Using this mix is fun because it includes regular candy corn, chocolate candy corn and the pumpkins that I so love!
  • Salted pretzels – Sometimes around Halloween, you can find pretzels shaped like pumpkins. If not, any type of pretzel will work, just make sure they’re broken into pieces.

How to Make Halloween Bark

You are going to love how easy it is to make this easy Halloween dessert.

  1. Double boiler method. Use either a double boiler or saucepan with heat proof bowl. Fill bottom pan with 2 inches of water and place over medium-high heat.
  2. Melt white chocolate. While heating, place white candy melts (or shortening and white chocolate chips) in the top pan and place over water pan. Stir every minute.
  3. Prepare large baking sheet. While chocolate is melting, place a large sheet of parchment paper on a cookie sheet. Lightly coat with butter flavored cooking spray.
  4. Spread chocolate into pan. Spread chocolate over parchment paper using an offset spatula.
  5. Top with candy. Quickly top with Harvest Mix candy corn and broken pretzels, gently pressing down into chocolate to secure.
  6. Melt milk chocolate. Melt milk chocolate in a plastic bag or plastic pastry bag, drizzle on top.
  7. Chill and break. Place in the refrigerator for 5-10 minutes, or until set. Remove and roughly cut with a large knife. Do not worry about cutting in nice clean squares, bark is best in rough, uneven pieces.

Variations

There are plenty of ways for you to make this Halloween candy bark recipe your own!

  • Chocolate – No need to use milk and white chocolate, you can use any type of chocolate you’d like. Melted chocolate chips, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla almond bark,
  • Candy – Instead of the candy corn mix, try adding some other sweet treats. Candy eyes, Reese’s peanut butter cups, Halloween sprinkles, Reese’s Pieces, graham crackers, or any other of your favorite candies can be used to make this Halloween chocolate candy bark.
  • Color – Instead of brown and white, add some color into the  mix! Orange candy melts, green candy melts or even purple are a great way to make these a festive treat for Halloween season.
