Why This Frosting Works

  • Real gingerbread flavor – Because we use molasses and warm spices like ginger and cinnamon, you get a true gingerbread flavor.

  • Silky, spreadable texture – The cream cheese and butter come together to create the perfect spreadable texture, not gloopy or runny.

  • Fast – This gingerbread cream cheese frosting in made in one bowl, in only ten minutes with no special tools.

Mix Things Up!

You can change up this frosting any way you’d like, but here are a few suggestions.

  • Orange-Ginger: Orange is a flavor that complements ginger very well. Add 1 tsp of fresh orange zest to give it a citrusy flair.
  • Maple-Gingerbread: Add some warmth and extra sweetness to your frosting by swapping the milk with maple syrup.
  • Extra-Tangy: If the tanginess of cream cheese frosting is your favorite part, add extra tang by adding ½ tsp lemon juice to brighten.

How to Use it

If you’re crazy like me, you’ll love this gingerbread cream cheese frosting so much you’ll want to eat it by the spoonful! But of course, it tastes great on any number of baked goods too.

I like to use it on my gingerbread loaf cake, gingerbread snack cake, vanilla cupcakes or really any other type of cake or cupcake you can think of. Try using it as a filling between two gingerbread cookies, or even on top of freshly baked cinnamon rolls.
