What You’ll Need

You only need a handful of simple ingredients to make this deviled egg dip. A full list of ingredients with measurements for this recipe is available in the printable recipe card below.

  • Hard boiled eggs – This is a great way to use up those leftover dyed Easter eggs. Or simply make hard boiled eggs just for this dip- it’s super easy! This isn’t the time to go for a wonderfully jammy yolk. The goal is to have a firm yolk, but make sure it is yellow without the grayish rim (overcooked). If you want to save time, buy a bag of the cooked hard boiled eggs at the store.
  • Ground white pepper
  • Kosher salt
  • Smoked paprika
  • Garlic powder
  • Cornichons
  • Chives
  • Dippers

How to Make Deviled Egg Dip (Step-by-Step)

Whether for a party, holiday or afternoon snack, this creamy dip couldn’t be easier to make.

  1. Cut eggs. Cut the six eggs in half, removing the yolks and setting the whites aside.
  2. Mash egg yolks. Using a grate or fork, mash the egg yolks in a small bowl until smooth. Set aside.
  3. Beat cream cheese, mayo and egg yolks. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment or a mixing bowl using an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Stir in the mayonnaise until blended, then the egg yolks.
  4. Add vinegar, mustard and seasonings. Stir in the vinegar, Dijon mustard, ground white pepper, Kosher salt, smoked paprika and garlic powder.
  5. Fold in chopped egg whites an cornichons. Finely chop the egg whites into small pieces. By hand, fold in the minced cornichons and chopped egg whites.
  6. Garnish with paprika and chives. Top with additional smoked paprika or snipped chives, if desired.
  7. Chill and serve. Cover and chill until ready to serve. Serve with crudité, crackers or crostini.

Tips for Perfect Deviled Egg Dip

This creamy dip couldn’t be easier to make, but I do have some tips to ensure it comes out perfectly.

  • Soften the cream cheese – Softened cream cheese blends much more smoothly and helps avoid lumps.
  • Chop the egg whites finely – Smaller pieces make the dip easier to scoop and give it a more cohesive texture.
  • Chill before serving – The flavor improves as it rests, and the texture firms up slightly, which makes it better for dipping.
  • Taste test – Because egg size and mayonnaise brands vary, you may want a little more mustard, vinegar, or salt before serving.

  • Crackers
  • Crostini

  • Celery sticks
  • Cucumber slices
  • Carrot sticks
  • Bell pepper strips

Mix Things Up!

There are plenty of ways for you to make this deviled egg dip recipe your own. Here are a few suggestions.

  • Bacon – Fold in some chopped crispy bacon for added crunchy texture and smoky bacon flavor.
  • Spicy – Spice up your dip by adding a few dashes of hot sauce, cayenne pepper or even diced jalapenos.
  • Dill pickle – Calling all pickle lovers! Add in some fresh dill and chopped dill pickles for crunch and flavor.
  • No cream cheese – I like the structure cream cheese adds to the dip, but feel free to leave it out and replace with extra mayonnaise for a looser consistency.

Notes

Storage: Store deviled egg dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Because it contains eggs, cream cheese, and mayonnaise, it should not sit at room temperature for more than 2 hours.
Freezing: Freezing is not recommended. The cream cheese and mayonnaise can separate after thawing, and the chopped egg whites can become watery and unpleasant in texture. This is a dip that is best made fresh or made a day ahead and refrigerated.
