Although popular at Christmas time, peppermint is a flavor that can be enjoyed all year round! Come check out the BEST peppermint recipes!

What is peppermint?

Peppermint is actually made by crossbreeding watermint and spearmint plants together. It is very aromatic and is used to add flavor or fragrance to food, toothpaste, cosmetics and more.

You can find peppermint in leaf form (great for making teas,) capsule form or even as an oil. It is said to help with headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, and even skin conditions.

But for the sake of this being a food blog, we’ll stick mainly to those uses. The most common way to incorporate it into your recipes would be in the form of peppermint extract (which is essentially an oil.)

This is a flavor that is most often found around Christmas time (think: those delicious Peppermint Mochas at Starbucks!) but the hard candies can be found and loved all year round.
