Christmas Puppy Chow is an easy no-bake holiday puppy chow recipe made with Chex cereal, chocolate, peanut butter, powdered sugar and festive sprinkles. Also known as holiday muddy buddies or Reindeer Chow, it’s perfect for Christmas parties, movie nights and edible gifts.
Measure the 9 cups Chex cereal and place in a very large mixing bowl (bigger than you think you need). Set aside.
Over medium heat, melt and combine the 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips, 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter and 1/4 cup butter, stirring constantly.
When fully melted, remove from the heat and stir in the 1 teaspoon vanilla. Allow it to sit for 2-3 minutes to cool off slightly.
Pour the chocolate mixture over the Chex cereal in 3 stages, folding as you go, but very gently so they don't break.
Toss gently to coat all the pieces.
Place the 2 cups powdered sugar and festive 1 cup festive sanding sugar in a large, airtight plastic bag, shake to combine.
Add the Chex cereal in stages, tossing to cover and then removing to a wax paper lined rimmed baking sheet.
Spread in a single layer and chill for an hour to set.
Remove. Keep at room temperture or chilled.
