Ingredients

Cake:

  • 1/2 cup butter , softened
  • 1 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs , room temperature
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Cooking spray

Frosting:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese , room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon 2% milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup walnuts , chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x13 glass baking dish with cooking spray. Set aside. 

  2. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer or a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together butter and sugar.

  3. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add sour cream and vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl sift flour, baking soda and salt.

  5. Slowly blend dry mixture into wet mixture.
  6. Mash bananas and cinnamon together using a fork. Fold into batter.
  7. Pour into prepared 9x13 baking dish. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until it passes the toothpick test. 

  8. For the cream cheese frosting, beat cream cheese until fluffy and smooth. Add in milk, vanilla and powdered sugar, continuing to mix. 

  9. When cake has cooled, frost with cream cheese frosting. Top with chopped walnuts.
