Classic steak frites made easy at home with juicy pan-seared steak, crispy fries, and melting garlic herb butter. This French bistro-style steak and fries recipe is perfect for date night, dinner parties, or a fancy-feeling weeknight meal.
Pat the steaks dry with a paper towel. Season the 2 thick cut strip steaks with the 2 tablespoons Steakhouse Steak Rub and set aside.
Heat a cast iron pan or heavy skillet over high heat until smoking. Make sure you turn on the vent or have proper ventilation. If the skillet is not nonstick or cast iron, add a small amount of high smoke point oil like peanut oil.
Add the seasoned steaks, cooking for 2-3 minutes on each side, longer if you like a medium-well done steak. This will also be highly dependent on the thickness of your steaks. Remove and allow to rest for 5 minutes.
To plate, place cooked, crispy 2 cups French fries on the bottom, top with your steak and finally 2 tablespoons maitre d'hotel butter.
