What is quinoa?
Quinoa is a seed (although sometimes called a whole grain) that has quickly become popular. It is said to be “better for you” than regular grains like rice. It’s even sometimes referred to as a “superfood.”
It also actually has many health benefits. It’s a great source of plant based protein, it has a high fiber content compared with other grains, it is a good source of antioxidants, iron and folate, and it has a good amount of magnesium.
It is substituted for rice in many recipes, and there are several different types of quinoa that can be used.
